  • 23 SEASONS as Head Coach at Providence College
  • 2006 BIG EAST Conference Coach of the Year, Dita/NFHCA DI Northeast Region Coach of the Year, and Words Unlimited Coach of the Year
  • Inducted into the Luzerne County (PA.) Athletic HALL OF FAME in 2005 and inducted into the Pennsylvania State Athletic HALL OF FAME in 2008.
  • PRIOR TO PC: 9 seasons as Assistant Coach at University of Maine
  • COLLEGE: Played for the University of Connecticut (1985-1988). Madl was a 2x ALL-AMERICAN, the HONDA BRODERICK AWARD Recipient, and a NATIONAL CHAMPION. She was a standout in the classroom as well earning ACADEMIC ALL-AMERICAN and graduating MAGNA CUM LAUDE.
  • USA: A 1996 OLYMPIAN, Madl was on the USA National Team for 4 years. She also competed with Team USA in the WORLD UNIVERSITY GAMES, the WORLD CUP, the INTER-CONTINENTAL CUP twice, and the CHAMPIONS TROPHY.

Kellie Stigas
Assistant Coach

Kellie Stigas embarks on her third season with the Providence College field hockey program as an assistant coach.

Stigas comes to Providence College after serving as an assistant coach at Northeastern during the 2022 season. Stigas put together an impressive NCAA Division I playing career at Northeastern as well. She played in 72 career games  for the Huskies from 2014-2018, including 53 appearances in the starting line-up. The Huskies won the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) regular-season title in 2014. Stigas tallied 30 career points on 11 goals and eight assists. She was a two-time team captain  for the Huskies and was a five-time NFHCA All-Academic Team selection.

After finishing her playing career at Northeastern, Stigas gained her first year of coaching experience in 2019 at the University of Massachusetts, assisting with the team's day-to-day operations. She returned to Northeastern  as an assistant during the 2020-21 campaign, and also gained a year of experience as an assistant coach at UMass Lowell (2021).  Received her USA Field Hockey Level III Coaching Accreditation in 2024.

Stigas graduated from Northeastern with a bachelor's degree in psychology in 2019, with a minor in human services and a concentration in counseling.


Kourtney Kennedy
Assistant Coach

Kourtney Kennedy embarks on her third season with the Providence College field hockey program as an assistant coach.

Kennedy spent the 2022 campaign as an assistant coach at Sacred Heart, following an impressive playing career at Connecticut. The Watertown, Massachusetts native anchored the Huskies' defense and earned NFHCA Mideast Region First  Team, All-BIG EAST First Team and BIG EAST All-Tournament Team honors during her career.

In 97 career games, Kennedy notched 10 goals and seven assists, while guiding her team to four-consecutive BIG EAST regular-season titles, four-straight BIG EAST Tournament titles and four NCAA Tournament appearances. Kennedy  was part of the Huskies' perfect season in 2017 during which the program won its fifth NCAA National Championship and finished the year 23-0.

During her tenure at Sacred Heart, Kennedy was responsible for the Pioneers' defense, practice planning and recruiting, in addition to the day-to-day operations of the program.

Kennedy graduated from UConn in 2021 with a bachelor's degree in sport management. She earned a master of science in sport management in 2022.
